PRESS RELEASE – MERCY MALAYSIA AND INCEIF UNIVERSITY OPEN REGISTRATION FOR GOVERNANCE & ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THE THIRD SECTOR 2027

A two-day national conference on 26–27 January 2027 calls on leaders and practitioners to strengthen governance and public trust across Malaysia’s third sector.

KUALA LUMPUR, 19 October 2026 — MERCY Malaysia and INCEIF University today announced the opening of registration for Governance & Accountability for the Third Sector 2027, a two-day conference that will bring together policymakers, regulators, humanitarian practitioners, corporate leaders, academics, funders and civil-society organisations.

The conference will be held on 26 and 27 January 2027 at Asia School of Business, Kuala Lumpur, under the theme “Governance Across Non-Profit and Non-Governmental Organisations.” It will examine how non-profit organisations, non-governmental organisations and social enterprises can strengthen governance frameworks, improve accountability and deliver sustainable social impact.

The third sector plays a central role in Malaysia’s socio-economic development, from humanitarian action and Islamic social finance to community development, rights advocacy and social enterprise. As expectations for transparency, responsible stewardship and measurable outcomes continue to grow, the conference offers a cross-sector platform to address the governance challenges and opportunities ahead.

Programme Highlights

Day 1 – Foundations of Trust. The opening day focuses on policy, integrity and institutional reform. Highlights include a plenary on the future governance and regulatory framework for non-profit organisations, a Royal Address and official opening ceremony, a legal dialogue on accountability and compliance, and a leadership fireside chat on sustaining societal impact. Afternoon sessions will explore integrity and social cohesion, governance in Islamic finance, reporting and transparency, risk management, and the protection of vulnerable communities.

Day 2 – Shaping Tomorrow. The second day turns to innovation and the future of governance. Sessions will cover resilient Islamic social finance ecosystems, institutional capacity, humanitarian accountability in complex environments, innovative and ethical finance, strategic philanthropy, and the transition from policy to practice.

The programme draws on perspectives from government, regulatory bodies, the humanitarian sector, Islamic finance institutions, foundations, corporations, professional services and academia.
