KUALA LUMPUR, 1 November 2026 — Over five days, Art for Humanity 2026 brought together Malaysian artists, collectors, partners and members of the public in support of a shared humanitarian purpose, closing on 1 November 2026 with a Live Charity Art Auction that generated total proceeds of an estimated RM250,000, of which an estimated RM140,000 will be channelled to support MERCY Malaysia’s humanitarian programmes, emergency response operations and assistance to communities in need.
Organised by MERCY Malaysia in conjunction with CIMB Artober 2026, with Henry Butcher Art Auctioneers as Auction Partner, MERCY Malaysia’s third charity art auction was held at Level 1, Ombak KLCC, Kuala Lumpur. The exhibition, open from 28 October to 1 November 2026, presented 30 works spanning painting, sculpture and other mediums by 30 Malaysian contemporary artists.
The Live Charity Art Auction on Sunday, 1 November, was conducted by auctioneer Soraya Khairuddin. The live auction featured 30 lots, with proceeds from the evening supporting MERCY Malaysia’s humanitarian work.
The top lot of the evening was Awang Damit Ahmad’s Estetika Timur… “Kekal Di Sini” (mixed-media-on-canvas, 61 × 61 cm, 2021), which sold for RM28,000. The evening generated strong support from collectors and supporters, contributing to the event’s overall fundraising success.
The evening opened with remarks from Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Faizal Mohd Perdaus, President of MERCY Malaysia. The event was attended by Encik Ismail Ani Arope, Regional Head, Group Corporate Events, CIMB; members of MERCY Malaysia’s Executive Council and senior management; as well as collectors, art enthusiasts, partners and members of the media.
In his remarks, Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Faizal thanked the 30 participating artists for entrusting their works to the cause, and encouraged collectors to view each bid not merely as an acquisition, but as a contribution to the capacity to care for, respond to and support communities in need. He noted that this year alone had shown how quickly needs can arise, from MERCY Malaysia’s ongoing support for communities in Nepal as they move towards recovery, to its recent response to the haze and the onset of the Northeast Monsoon at home.
The collection was curated by prominent Malaysian contemporary artist Bayu Utomo Radjikin, who is also one of the participating artists, bringing together established and emerging artists in support of a shared humanitarian cause. MERCY Malaysia extends its appreciation to CIMB Artober 2026 as Event Partner, Henry Butcher Art Auctioneers as Auction Partner, Ombak KLCC, all participating artists, collectors, supporters and partners whose contributions helped make the auction possible.
The auction raised an estimated RM250,000 in total proceeds, of which an estimated RM140,000 will be channelled to MERCY Malaysia’s General Humanitarian Fund. The Fund enables MERCY Malaysia to respond when and where needs emerge, supporting emergency response and relief, health and medical assistance, water, sanitation and hygiene, food and essential items, early recovery, rehabilitation and reconstruction, disaster preparedness and risk reduction, community resilience, and longer-term development.
Funds raised through the auction will help MERCY Malaysia respond rapidly to humanitarian emergencies while supporting longer-term recovery and resilience-building initiatives in vulnerable communities.
“This evening, 30 artists, our partners and every collector in the room showed what becomes possible when creativity is placed in the service of humanity. Every ringgit raised strengthens our ability to respond when it matters most, whether supporting communities recovering in Nepal or assisting vulnerable communities here at home affected by haze and monsoon floods. Our task now is to turn every bid into help that reaches people when they need it most,” said Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Faizal Mohd Perdaus, President of MERCY Malaysia.
