The humanitarian field is a challenging subject to navigate for a layperson unfamiliar with various jargons and acronyms. The glossary is provided as a resource for the press, news agencies as well as the members of the public who want to clarify various terms in usage for humanitarian work.

The development of the glossary is enabled by ReliefWeb; a global hub for time-critical humanitarian information on Complex Emergencies and Natural Disasters administered by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
